DORIAN GRAY

“ONLY THE SENSES CAN HEAL THE SOUL, JUST AS ONLY THE SOUL CAN HEAL THE SENSES”

  • Choreographer James Pett and British author and dramaturge Ben Lewis take on a new interpretation of Dorian, the outrageous and legendary protagonist from Oscar Wilde’s classic The Picture of Dorian Gray. From the moment he appears in high society, Dorian becomes the object of desire and admiration. Celebrated by portrait painter Basil Hallward, he enjoys the innocent love of his fiancee despite the negative influence of the hedonist Lord Henry. Everyone worships him; when Dorian decides to sacrifice his soul in his pursuit of pleasure, can he ever return to a normal human life?

  • Choreography: James Pett

WRITTEN BY WILDE 130 YEARS AGO, THIS STORY REMAINS RELEVANT TODAY: IT IS A STORY ABOUT FEAR AND REJECTION OF OLD AGE AND DEATH AND THE DANGEROUS TEMPTATIONS OF WORSHIPPING YOUTH AND BALLET.
